The design concept, which won the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2017, is a testament to Lin's creative prowess and his ability to push the boundaries of conventional design. The award is given to designs that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
Origami Space Definition is a unique design that challenges traditional spatial layouts. Instead of dividing the space with solid walls, Lin uses the concept of origami to define different areas. This approach creates a visually appealing and well-organized space, avoiding the messiness often associated with limited spaces divided into smaller sections.
The design incorporates various functional areas, including a lobby, auditorium, reception, and a sand table area. Each area is skillfully positioned along the direction of the origami, creating a seamless flow from one space to another. The jagged shape of the origami, stretching from the ground to the wall, top, and floor, is strategically placed within a square glass box, further enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the space.
Lin's design is not just about aesthetics; it also serves a practical purpose. As a sales center, the design aims to attract people and facilitate their journey through the space. The design was realized using Lati wood, cotton wood, and aurora marble, and covers an area of 800 square meters, costing $538,650.
Origami Space Definition is a testament to Lin's innovative approach to design and his ability to transform spaces in a way that is both visually appealing and functional. It's a design that truly embodies the spirit of modernity and art, bringing a new dimension to interior design.
